Childcare Health Consultation

Childcare Health Consultation

Kentucky Child Care Health Consultation (CCHC), part of the KIDS NOW Initiative, is designed to give children a healthy start in child care by supporting licensed providers with expert guidance on health, safety, and nutrition for children ages 0–5. Local health department consultants work closely with Child Care Aware and the Kentucky All Stars program to promote quality standards across child care environments.

Our trained Child Care Health Consultants provide on-site assessments, policy reviews, staff training, and technical assistance to help centers meet regulatory and best practice standards. Topics include illness exclusion, handwashing, safe food handling, diapering procedures, and emergency preparedness. We help child care facilities prepare for state inspections and improve their readiness for health-related events.

We proudly serve licensed child care centers, family child care homes, Head Start programs, and facilities seeking licensure. Together, we help create nurturing, safe environments that support healthy development and early learning.
