The unit will provide WIC, immunization and harm reduction services such as HIV and Hepatitis C testing to all eight BRDHD counties: Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, Simpson and Warren. All community members are encouraged to take advantage of the Mobile Clinic services. Normal eligibility checks for specific program requirements will still be necessary- such as meeting federal WIC guidelines for program eligibility, and vaccinating per the ACIP and CDC guidelines and schedule. The Mobile Clinic will have the ability to bill private insurance, Medicaid/Medicare, and collect self-pay payments for vaccination services. The unit will also have a schedule of locations it will park, such as neighborhoods and community organizations, organized by the unit-dedicated clinical staff.
Community members can know where to find the unit by following BRDHD social media pages and visiting the BRDHD website. Members can also check their potential WIC eligibility by visiting www.barrenriverhealth.org/wic-program or by calling their local health department. Community partners are invited to request the unit to provide services or to just be present at any and all community events.
