Medical Nutrition Therapy
Medical nutrition therapy (MNT) provided by a Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) includes:
A review of your eating habits and lifestyle.
A thorough assessment of your nutritional status.
An individualized diet and activity treatment plan based on individual preference, medication, current health and family health history, appropriate physical activity and eating concerns.
Support through healing or assisting in preventing further complications or future illnesses.
The initial visit with the RD/RDN takes approximately 30 minutes – 1 hour. After the first session, the RD/RDN will schedule follow-up appointments to check on your progress and see if changes are needed in your nutrition goals and treatment plan. Together with the RD/RDN, you will set nutrition goals to improve your health.
MNT through local health departments improves quality of life and maximizes limited health care resources with a focus on the importance of nutrition in growth and development.
