March Employee of the Month

Susan Reed was chosen as March’s Employee of the Month. She was nominated by Jackie Copas, Terryl Coats, and Peggy Burcham. Jackie said, “She is a big help to our clinic. She helps me weekly in our Family Planning clinic. She is a friend and a co-worker.” Terryl said, “Imagine every morning leaving for work and not being able to just go to your work site but instead driving to one of 4 counties, then driving out in the county to find these young ladies with new babies, counsel them and issue vouchers and back to that county for the final paperwork. In Hart County, some of the homes are so far off the road, that she has to walk or the resident will meet her and drive her back into the area of their home. She does a great job and she’s always pleasant, our patients just love her!” Peggy said, “Her knowledge base and drive to obtain the most current and accurate information for her families adds quality and integrity to the program. Susan keeps me on my toes with her input, questions and observations. It’s a pleasure to be her supervisor.” Susan started at the Health Department in August of 1991 and later became the supervisor for the Warren County Prenatal Program. After it’s closing, Susan transferred to the Barren County Health Department where she has worn a multitude of hats. Susan has now settled in as a Perinatal Home Visiting Nurse. Susan said this of her position, “I love going into the homes of these girls, where most of the time, they leave the hospital with no knowledge of how to care for their new babies. I feel our service is very beneficial to them. A lot of times when you give them information they say, “I am so glad you came, I didn’t know that.” I also love working with everyone at the Health Department, we have a good bunch of people working here.” Susan lives in Horse Cave with her husband of 38 years, Steven. They have two children, Will and Sarah and three grandchildren, Aaron, Gabe, and Laney. Susan’s hobbies are spending time outdoors, camping and boating, swimming, bird watching, cooking and reading. Congratulations Susan! |
