  WIC Coordinator Wins Prestigious Award

Ann Meador, RN won the Helen B. Fraser Award, presented by the KPHA (Kentucky Public Health Association) at their annual meeting held in Louisville at the Executive Inn West in March 2002.

Meador is the WIC (Women, Infant, & Children) Nutrition Program Coordinator for the Barren River District Health Department.  She has held the position for almost 23 years.  Previously, she worked in the WIC program as a clinical nurse.

The Helen B. Fraser award is presented annually  to a health professional in recognition and appreciation of exceptional contribution to the

health and well being of mothers and children in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Meador says that she is “overwhelmed to be considered among the other people that have won this prestigious award.”  Enjoying what she does, Meador comments that it has been a pleasure to work with all the people: the state staff, the local staff, the community vendors and, of course, the mothers and children.
