Health Department Director Receives Award

Dennis Chaney, District Director, was presented with the first-ever Trailblazer Award given by the Kentucky Health Department Association. This award will be given each year to a health department director who has worked in that position less than 5 years. It is awarded in recognition of extraordinary accomplishments early in their career and in support of Kentucky Health Departments.

Chaney has been the Director of the Barren River District Health Department since March 2003. He has been instrumental in advancing statewide public health policy and in service enhancements at the community level. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Public Health Association and is treasurer of the Kentucky Health Departments Association.
