July Employee of the Month

Lisa Sowders was chosen as July’s Employee of the Month.  Amanda Bogard nominated Lisa and had this to say about her, “Lisa volunteered (with only 45 minutes notice) to speak to one of the Family Practice Residents from AHEC.  I asked Lisa if she could fill in for Crissy and give a thirty-minute overview of the Health Information Team.  Lisa agreed and began gathering information/pamphlets to give to the resident.  Crissy made it back and was able to meet with the resident, but I really appreciated Lisa stepping up to the plate to fill in!  Lisa has gone out of her way to help me several times—be it hanging pictures on my wall, assisting me with computer troubles, or gathering supplies to conduct a mass clinic.  She is always there with a positive attitude, ready to help out.” 

Lisa originally hails from Owensboro, but after attending WKU she decided to plant her roots here in Bowling Green.  Lisa started here at the health department in January of 1987, as a cashier for the Warren County Health Department.  She soon became the jack-of-all-trades at BRDHD, having worked as Accounts Payable in the Finance Department, Data Entry for Home Health, and Finance Administrator for the Primary Care Center before landing in her current position on the Health Information Team.  Still the jack-of-all-trades, Lisa’s positions includes:  Data, Statistics, HIPPA Privacy Officer, Billing Supervisor, Unofficial Medical Record Coding Guru, and she also serves on the Quality Assurance Committee.  When asked why she enjoys her job, Lisa stated, “I enjoy working on the Health Information Team because in my current role, I can work with all of the departments, whether it be clinical, community or whatever.  I like the fact that I am not limited to working with just one program.”
 

Lisa who lives with her partner of 16 years, Laura, enjoys gardening, cooking (especially for the employees here) and spending time with her two dogs, Murphy (a Corgi) and Madison (a Basset Hound) in her spare time.
