Barren River District Health
Department Receives Award For
“ Innovation in Service Delivery"
(Bowling Green, KY.) The Kentucky Department for Public
Health presented the Barren River
District Health Department with an award for “Innovation in Service
Delivery”. The award was
presented to Dennis Chaney, Director of Barren River District Health
Department, at the Barren
River School Health Summit on March 28, 2007. The award recognizes
efforts put forth by the
health department to develop the Center of Excellence in School Health.
The Center’s goal is to promote the eight components of coordinated
school health which are: health education, physical education,
health services, nutrition services, counseling and psychological
services, healthy school environment, health promotion for staff and
family/community involvement. By extending their hands as a partner, the
health department has been able to engage school superintendents and
empower school personnel in working together to improve the health of
our community. "This award truly acknowledges the strong collaboration
between our agency and the 14 public school districts in the Barren
River Area,” said District Director Dennis Chaney.
The Barren River District Health Department looks
forward to continuing partnership with
school districts to strive in the development of stronger and more
comprehensive school health
programs. For more information log on to:
