Job Description

Family Support Worker/Home VisitorThe Barren River District Health Department is accepting applications for one (1) full-time Family Support Worker/Home Visitor positions to work in the HANDS program. This position will be based in Barren County, but could potentially serve all eight counties.   The minimum requirements are a high school diploma or GED and experience in a social/health related field such as working with children, teens, and adults in a daycare, medical office, or school, which provides medical or community support services. Duties include working in the HANDS program conducting home visits with eligible first-time parents, providing and assisting families with child development information, parenting skills, health information, and linking resources. The successful applicant will also complete various forms and documentation for case records and monthly reports. Other duties as assigned. Travel will be required to other counties as needed, after orientation and training is complete. You must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. The minimum hourly wage is $8.10. The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check. Community Health WorkerThe Barren River District Health Department is accepting applications for a full time appointment for a CARE and Environmental Scan Community Health Worker. This position will be based at the District office but travel will be required to all counties covered by the Barren River District Health Department.   The minimum educational requirement is a current KY Certified Medical Assistant.   Applicants need to be highly motivated, independently thinking professionals. Duties will include providing home visits for the CARE Collaborative blood pressure education, as well as visits to medical practices to conduct environmental scan for blood pressure and diabetes services.  Other duties as assigned.  Applicant must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. Applicants will be screened then interviewed. Hourly wage is $9.00 with excellent benefits. This position is funded through June 30, 2015.  The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check. Senior Support Associate IThe Barren River District Health Department is accepting applications for a  full-time Senior Support Associate I position to work at the Warren County Health Department. The minimum requirements are a high school diploma or GED and one year of moderately difficult business or public administrative experience in a medical, hospital or administrative office environment using electronic office equipment and professional software. Additional education (college, vocational school, etc.) in business education or a medically related field may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis. Duties include receptionist, making appointments, patient screening, WIC, cashier duties, data entry, copying, and filing.  Other duties as assigned. The minimum hourly rate is $8.40 with excellent benefits. You must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. Travel will be required to other counties as needed after orientation and training is complete.  The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check. Local Health Nurse IThe Barren River District Health Department is accepting applications for a Partial Year Appointment Local Health Nurse I position. This position will be based in Simpson County.  The minimum requirement is an Associate degree or diploma in nursing from an accredited college, university, or school of nursing. Must have RN license in Kentucky or compact state or provisional license in Kentucky, meeting all requirements of KRS 314.041 and approval to practice as Registered Nurse Applicant (RNA). Applicants need to be highly motivated, independently thinking nursing professionals. Duties include working independently as a school nurse in a clinic setting in the Simpson County School System. The applicant will be working with students providing daily services to promote health and wellness, immunizations, well child physicals, medications, first aid, and clinic support for sick children. Other duties as assigned. Applicant must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. Applicants will be screened then interviewed. Hourly wage is $14.77 with excellent benefits. The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check. The minimum requirements are a high school diploma or GED and one year ofmoderately difficult business or public administrative experience in a medical, hospital or administrative office environment using electronic office equipment and professional software. Additional education (college, vocational school, etc.) in business education or a medically related field may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis. Duties include Spanish interpretation/translation, making appointments, patient screening, WIC, cashier duties, data entry, copying, and filing.  Other duties as assigned. The minimum hourly rate is $8.40 with excellent benefits. You must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. Travel will be required to other counties as needed after orientation and training is complete.  The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check. Local Health Nurse I

The Barren River District Health Department is accepting applications on an ongoing basis for a Local Health Nurse I. Requirements are an Associate degree or diploma from an accredited college, university or school of nursing. You must have met all of the requirements of Registered Nurse Applicant (RNA) or have a current active Kentucky Registered Nurse license or have a compact state licensure. No previous nursing practice experience required. Duties include clinical nursing for all clinic areas. Will travel to other counties within the district's eight counties as needed. Assessment method will be interviews. The successful applicant will be required to take and pass a pre-employment drug test and a criminal background check. Must have reliable transportation and a valid Kentucky driver's license.
