Community Health Assessment, Planning and Grant Writing
The Barren River District Health Department uses data to help us make decisions about the most needed preventive health programs.  Our Health Information staff may work informally with other BRDHD teams.  We can also conduct formal community health assessments.  The goals of both formal and informal community health assessment are broad:
  • An improved ability to prioritize local need and issues
  • Better coordination of existing services and resources
  • Thoughtful planning to address local needs
  • Purposeful evaluations to measure successes and strengthen future planning efforts
Some BRDHD activities are made possible only when our staff obtain special grant funds.  Several staff teams work closely with the Health Information Branch to seek out funding possibilities, tailor health programs to the the individual interests of the funding organizations and present the programs in a winning format for funding.
