March 2017 Employee of the Month: Carolyn Parrigan
Carolyn is our Nurse Supervisor for our Butler County Health Department. Carolyn started her career with BRDHD on October 4, 1999.
Carolyn’s nomination had the following comments…….“Carolyn is always willing to go the extra mile to make her patients feel at ease and respected.” “Carolyn is easy to work with and willing to cooperate with teammates from other branches. She is a consummate professional who takes personal pride in her local health department and BRDHD. Whether it is seeing patients or helping keep the building clean she is always ready to do what needs to be done.”
February 2017 Employee of the Month: Jane Lewis
Jane is our Nurse Supervisor for our Simpson County Health Department. Jane started her career with BRDHD on August 30, 2004.
Jane’s nomination had the following comments…….”Jane always greets everyone with a smile and an excited hello! Jane is an AMAZING person to work with. She has always been so supportive of her School Nurses. We love her!! Jane is always supportive and provides reassurance; makes herself available when I need to talk to her! Love her wild personality and gentle heart. Jane is a hardworking, respectful, dedicated nurse who not only cares for her patients, but her employees. She spends countless hours dedicated to Simpson Co. As the only nurse in clinic 4/5 days, she accomplishes seeing each of her patients in a timely and efficient manner. She treats each patient as though they are her own family, and provides care and service that can’t be found elsewhere. The entire Simpson Co community speaks so highly of “Ms. Jane”. She truly exhibits all of the qualities that a public health nurse and a center coordinator should while adding her own personal flair to the job. Jane treats all of our patients with respect. She works well with all of her staff. She makes working at the Simpson Co Health Department pleasurable. She is well respected in the community and is always willing to lend a helping hand. Jane exhibits many great traits. She is always caring in what she says; she leads by example; she always treats everyone with respect; she is honest, has a positive attitude, and ALWAYS is a team player and cares about everyone she works with.”
January 2017 Employee of the Month: Carisa Castleberry
Cara is the Nurse Program Manager for our district-wide Community Health Management program. Cara started her career with BRDHD on April 15, 2013.
Cara’s nomination had the following comments…….”Cara works closely within her team, always looking out for the best interest of her patients. She is kind and compassionate to her patients, but tells them the truth so they can work on it together. She does a great job with her patients and the Community Health Management program.”
December 2016 Employee of the Month: Shirley Bush
Shirley is a Local Health Nurse for our Warren County Health Department. Shirley started her career with BRDHD on February 7, 2011. Shirley’s nomination letters had the following comments…….”Shirley is always willing to help out as needed, and maintains a positive attitude”; “Shirley is very approachable no matter how hectic things may get”; “Shirley has great attendance, and always strives to be accurate and detailed”; “She doesn’t shy away from new duties, and is always willing to answer any questions someone may have”; “Shirley always gives the best of herself to every patient.”
November 2016 Employee of the Month: Tammy Alexander
Tammy is a School Nurse for our Barren County Health Department. The school she serves is South Green Elementary in the Barren County School System. Tammy started her career with BRDHD on July 11, 2011.
Tammy’s nomination letters had the following comments…….”Tammy is so helpful, especially to new school nurses”; “Tammy is a great mentor to new school nurses; she tells all of us to call, text or email any questions we might have”; “One day I needed support with a diabetic child, and Tammy walked me through each step in order to safely take care of the student”; and, “Tammy treats each and every person with respect and kindness.”
October 2016 Employee of the Month: Anita Ausbrooks
Anita is a Senior Support Associate for our Butler County Health Department. Anita started her career with BRDHD on June 4, 2007. Anita will receive a $20 gift card from Wal-mart and an article about her on our website.

Belinda is a Local Health Nurse for our Barren County Health Department. Belinda started her career with BRDHD on April 16, 2001. August 2016 Employee of the Month: Jama Jepson
Jama is a Health Environmentalist II for our Simpson County Health Department. Jana started her career with BRDHD on March 4, 2002. Jama’s nomination letters had the following comments…….”Jama recently became a Retail Food Specialist for BRDHD, meaning she will provide annual restaurant inspection standardization for all BRDHD environmentalist.”; “Jama is very compassionate, knowledgeable and dedicated to her job.”; “Jama has had a higher than normal amount of animal bites in managing the Simpson County Rabies Control program.”; “Jama has also seen an increase in septic tank permits with the Simpson County Onsite Sewage Disposal program, which helps to protect our underground water-table from being contaminated with bacteria..”; “Jama is flexible and goes out of her way to help others.”; and, “Jama works well with all Simpson County community leaders, and is well respected throughout Simpson County!”

Chelsea is a Medical Nutrition Therapy Nutritionist on our Community Health Improvement Team. She provides medical nutrition therapy to patients for all eight counties in our health district. Chelsea started her career with BRDHD on April 27, 2015. May 2016 Employee of the Month: Carolyn Lyons
Carolyn is a Public Health Nurse II for our Communicable Disease Team. She serves as the TB Coordinator for all eight (8) counties in our health district. Carolyn started her career with BRDHD on September 24, 2007. Kathy is a Public Health Services Coordinator for our Community Health Promotion Branch. Kathy started her career with BRDHD on August 25, 2008 and serves Butler, Logan, and Simpson counties. Kathy’s nomination letters had the following comments: “Kathy is always a kind and friendly face to everyone she meets. She is always a team player and has an outstanding outlook on everything.”; “Kathy really gets everyone motivated, both staff and community partners.”; “Kathy is always willing to learn new things and is consistently a positive person.”; “Kathy is enthusiastic and committed to each duty of her job.”; “Kathy is a walking advertisement for BRDHD.”; “Kathy has been referred to as Logan County Health Department’s best kept secret.”; and, “Kathy makes each staff member feel special and appreciated.”
March 2016 Employee of the Month: Yolanda Reid
Yolanda is an Advanced Practitioner Registered Nurse for all eight of our county health departments, focusing on family planning service delivery. Yolanda started her career with BRDHD on November 24, 2014. Yolanda’s nomination letters had the following comments…….”As long as I have been here I don’t remember an APRN getting as many compliments from patients as Yolanda does.”; “Yolanda is an exceptional person to work with; she is kind, courteous and a team player.”; “Yolanda is very flexible and always willing to do whatever is needed to get the workday done and done correctly.”; “Yolanda is welcoming to every face she meets; patients love her.”; and “Patients remark on how easy Yolanda is to talk to, and they feel confident in her skills to take care of them”.

Lana is the Nurse Supervisor for our Warren County Health Department. Lana started her career with BRDHD on April 9, 2007. January 2016 Employee of the Month: Tara Coots
Tara is a Family Support Worker for our HANDS program for our Warren County Health Department. Tara started her career with BRDHD on November 10, 2014. Tara’s nomination letters had the following comments…….”Tara has an incredible work ethic, who very rarely misses work”; “Tara has never hesitated to accept an assignment and eagerly volunteers, especially when it benefits her team. For example, a new family was being considered for assignment to Tara or another co-worker; based on the Mom’s availability being Wednesday evenings, Tara volunteered to visit the family so her co-worker would not have to miss church”; “Tara has a caring heart and an easygoing personality”; “Tara’s documentation is excellent, capturing just the right highlights and sentiments, more than once bringing the chart reviewers to tears”.
