Food Manager Certification
Since October 2005, Food Manager Certification classes have been offered by the health department. Food Manager Certification was made mandatory by a regulation adopted by the district board on July 25, 2005. By January 1, 2007, every food establishment must have at least one manager on staff who is certified. Managers may become certified by attending a five (5) hour class at the health department and getting a passing score on an examination at the end. Certification is good for three (3) years. Classes are held in Bowling Green and Glasgow. The health department also recognizes other food manager certification classes such as ServSafeã, Experiorã and other similar food safety programs.
